LYO Coumminty

In the summer of 2006, six youth from the Rocky Mountain Synod went to the National Lutheran Youth Organization Convention in San Antonio and came up with some big ideas for the Rocky Mountain Synod.  In other synods, LYO's plan youth gatherings, assist struggling youth groups, provide leadership and leadership growth opportunities, and generally bring the Lutheran youth of the synod together.  Eventually the LYO of our synod might one day aspire to these ideals, but for now we'd like to start with a couple of goals and encourage a few community service ideas, and move on from there.

Since the summer of 2006 a core of committed youth have been working to bring some structure to our synod LYO.  After an initial year of information sharing about the organization, meetings at the 2007 synod senior high youth gathering put fort a plan.  The plan is based on having two teams that reflect the goals.  The LEADERSHIP TEAM will work on helping youth find positions of leadership in the synod.  The COMMUNITY TEAM will seek opportunities for youth to come together in worship and service.
